A spectacular drone show will light up the skies above Stanley Park as part of the park’s centenary celebrations this October. The display will be created by Celestial, the company behind the acclaimed drone performance filmed at Stanley Park for Britain’s Got Talent in 2025, which was later seen by millions of television viewers. This year the drones will fly on Saturday, 3 October 2026.
Opened in 1926, Stanley Park is celebrating its one hundredth anniversary throughout 2026 with a programme of community events, heritage activities and family entertainment. The main celebrations will take place on 2 and 3 October, marking a century since the park officially opened. Visitors can look forward to an artisan market, family fairground rides, live entertainment and activity sessions before the weekend culminates with the evening drone display.
Across the anniversary year there will also be heritage walks, sporting events, Bandstand performances, family activities and opportunities for residents to share their memories and historic photographs of one of Blackpool’s best-loved parks.
Covering around 390 acres, Stanley Park is one of the country’s finest historic parks and is Grade II listed. Its many attractions include the Italian Gardens, Art Deco Café, Cocker Clock Tower, boating lake, woodland and extensive sporting facilities, attracting more than two million visitors every year.
To mark the milestone, Blackpool Council is investing £500,000 in restoration and maintenance work, including repairs to the Trellis, the Cocker Clock and the Italian Gardens fountain. The project is being supported by a further £50,000 raised by the Friends of Stanley Park, helping to preserve the park’s historic character for future generations.
Further details of the centenary programme will be announced as preparations continue for what promises to be one of the most memorable celebrations in the park’s history.
