The First Village Police House in Freckleton Receives Blue Plaque
Long before modern police stations became a familiar feature of towns and villages, law and order in Freckleton was maintained by a single parish constable. Working within the community he served, the village constable dealt with disturbances, thefts, drunkenness and minor offences, often with little more than local knowledge, personal authority and a simple lock-up known locally as The Cage.
