Glenda in her youth

Glenda studied at Palatine College of Art in Blackpool from 1972, one of the town’s best-known art colleges, which trained generations of artists, designers and creative professionals before later becoming part of Blackpool and The Fylde College. Her education provided the foundations for an artistic career that has continued to develop over many decades.

She is well known for her involvement with the Over Wyre Art Society, one of the Fylde’s longest-established art organisations. Through the society she has exhibited alongside fellow local artists, helping to promote painting and the visual arts within the Over Wyre community while encouraging creativity across the wider Fylde Coast.

Glenda has also exhibited at the Grundy Art Gallery’s annual OPEN exhibitions in Blackpool. The OPEN exhibition, founded on the gallery’s original principle of showing “the art of the day”, welcomes artists from across Blackpool and the Fylde Coast and has become one of the region’s most important showcases for contemporary art. Her inclusion in both the 2025 and 2026 exhibitions reflects her continuing contribution to the area’s artistic community.
